The medium-pressure centrifugal fan of the VC 14-46 VZ (VZI) #2,5 series (VR-287-46.1) with the Electric motor 4VR S2 100 4.0 Power kW 3000 Vol./Min electric motor, made from aluminum alloys, is designed for explosive atmospheres.
The VC 14-46 VZ (VZI) #2,5 fan is intended for ventilation or air conditioning systems of explosive gas-air mixtures of categories 1 and 2, groups T1, T2, T3 according to the classification of the "Electrical Installations Code" (EIC), which do not cause accelerated corrosion of the materials in the airflow parts of the fan (air aggressiveness up to 80 °C), and do not contain fibrous materials, sticky substances, dust, or other solid impurities in concentrations greater than 100 mg/m³, under moderate (U) climate (placement category 3) and tropical (T) climate (placement category 2) according to GOST 15150.
Fans of the VC 14-46 VZ (VR-287-46.1) series must not be used for transporting gas-air mixtures:
- Containing explosives, extra oxygen, or explosive dusts;
- From process installations where explosive substances are heated above their ignition temperature or are under excess pressure.
Fans with enhanced spark protection are used for servicing explosive areas of classes B-1a and B-1b according to the "Electrical Installations Code" (EIC), provided normal working conditions are maintained.

The impeller consists of a front and rear disk, 32 sheet blades, and a hub.
The base frame is welded. The base has a hole for mounting on vibration isolators or on a foundation. The electric motor and the cover are mounted on the base.
The conical collector for supplying air to the impeller is attached to the inlet pipe. The gap between the collector and the front disk of the impeller is regulated by axial movement of the collector in the inlet pipe.

- Category 4: For use in premises with artificially regulated climate conditions, e.g., in closed, heated or cooled and ventilated production spaces, in premises with conditioned or partially conditioned air, and other, including well-ventilated underground premises (absence of direct sunlight, precipitation, wind, sand, and outside air dust; absence or significant reduction of the effect of scattered sunlight and moisture condensation);
- Category 5: For use in premises with high humidity (for example, in unheated and unventilated underground spaces, including mines, basements, in soil, in ship compartments and other rooms where water may be present for long periods or frequent condensation of moisture on the walls and ceiling, particularly in some holds, in certain workshops of textile, hydrometallurgical production, etc.).
