The Systemair BP 1500/2000 bypass is designed for defrosting the heat recovery unit by directing airflow around the heat exchanger. During defrosting, the supply fan operates at a reduced speed. If no bypass is installed, defrosting of the heat exchanger in Maxi 2000 units is achieved by periodically switching off the supply fan.

In warm seasons, when heat recovery is not required, the supply air can also pass through the bypass, bypassing the heat exchanger. The bypass opens and closes using a motorized valve (control signal 0...10 V, power supply ~24 V). For Maxi 2000 units, the bypass is supplied as an optional accessory.
