ERV-2022 Hand-Electric Fan – Description and Purpose
The ERV-2022 hand-electric fan was developed by the Design Bureau of Kyiv Ventilator Plant LLC in 2022, directly during the wartime caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, as a modern replacement for the morally and technically outdated ERV-49 fan. This fan is intended for ventilating shelters and civil/military defense facilities that do not have autonomous power supply systems.

Operating Conditions
The ERV-2022 fan operates in ambient temperatures ranging from -40°C to +40°C, suitable for moderate climates (placement categories 2 or 3). It can also be custom-made for tropical climates or high dust environments—something that was previously not possible.

Additional Information
A key feature and advantage of the fan when using the electric drive is that the gearbox remains permanently connected to the impeller shaft. This eliminates the need for additional coupling operations when switching to manual mode. In case of power outage, the fan can be operated manually by rotating the gearbox handle.
Advantages of ERV-2022 Over ERV-49
The original ERV-49 was introduced in 1949. However, over time it became outdated: it was heavy, had low efficiency, placed a high load on the operator in manual mode, and only supported a single scroll angle and rotation direction, making installation and use cumbersome.
In contrast, the ERV-2022 does not require any additional coupling to switch from electric to manual mode—you simply attach the handle. Another major advantage is its increased power output, which is twice as high as that of the ERV-49, enabling one person to ventilate significantly larger spaces manually.
Intended Use
The ERV-2022 hand-electric fan is specifically designed for ventilating civil defense premises, bomb shelters without autonomous power supply systems, and for ensuring reliable ventilation in shelters and civil/military defense facilities equipped with diesel generators—in case of generator failure or limited runtime.
Construction
The ERV-2022 consists of a strong steel body, a frame, a special gearbox, and an electric motor. It can operate via electric motor or manual rotation of the gearbox handle. The motor is always engaged with the gearbox and doesn’t require additional couplings. When the motor is off, the fan operates by manually turning the handle.
The fan is manufactured with left-hand rotation by default. For optimal performance, it should be installed at a height of 1125 mm from floor level to motor axis. The fan supports clean ventilation (Mode I), filter-ventilation, and regeneration (Modes II and III).
