General information about cyclone SK-CN-34M-600
The SK-CN-34 series cyclones were developed in 1969 by the engineering team of the NIIOGAZ Institute specifically for capturing solid dust particles formed in auxiliary carbon black production systems as well as after reactor operations.
The upgraded version — SK-CN-34M cyclones — belong to the conical type and are designed for effective purification of carbon black air and gas mixtures from solid fraction particles in pneumatic conveying systems, as well as in aspiration and pneumatic cleaning systems of carbon black production.
Application of cyclone SK-CN-34M-600
The main application area of this type of cyclones is ventilation and purification systems.
SK-CN-34M provide one of the highest purification levels among all conical cyclones, though they are also characterized by a higher aerodynamic resistance coefficient.
These dust collectors are used in butane dehydrogenation units, catalytic cracking of petroleum products, as well as in carbon black production. Due to their high efficiency, they are especially relevant in continuous industrial carbon black production, where maximum automation of technological processes is required.
SK-CN-34M demonstrate high efficiency in cleaning gases and air from dust with increased abrasiveness or particle stickiness. Compared to the basic SK-CN-34 and SDK-CN-33 models, they have twice the pressure loss but provide the highest cleaning quality when working with heavy types of contaminants.
Technical data of cyclone SK-CN-34M-600
The maximum permissible dust concentration of gas entering purification is up to 1000 g/m3.
At the same time, the gas flow temperature must not exceed 250 °C.
The recommended inlet velocity is 10–17 m/s, and the maximum working pressure is 1700 Pa.
Compliance with these conditions allows achieving up to 97% purification efficiency for dust with particle size from 10 μm and density of 2.7 g/cm3.
Design of cyclone SK-CN-34M-600
Structurally, SK-CN-34M cyclones are manufactured in variants for “left” and “right” gas flow rotation.
When viewed from the exhaust pipe side, clockwise movement is considered “right”, counterclockwise — “left”.
Unlike cylindrical analogues, conical cyclones have an elongated body and a spiral inlet pipe, which increases the purification efficiency.
Due to their larger dimensions, such units are rarely used in group installations.
During installation, cyclones must be thermally insulated, for which special fastening elements are provided.
Dust hopper of cyclone SK-CN-34M-600
The dust collection hopper is located in the lower part of the unit and is intended for collecting dust residues.
To ensure stable and long-lasting equipment operation, the hopper must be cleaned periodically.
The cleaning frequency depends on its volume: the larger the hopper, the less frequent dust removal is required.
Overfilling the hopper significantly reduces cyclone efficiency, shortens its service life, and may even lead to breakdown. The dimensions and shape of the dust collector are selected by the customer, based on operating conditions and desired cleaning frequency.
