Description

General Information about Cyclone SIOT-1

Cyclone SIOT-1 (SIOT — Dry Inertial Dust Separator) is designed for cleaning gas-air mixtures from dry, non-sticky and non-hygroscopic dust, generated during technological processes such as drying, firing, sintering, fuel combustion, etc. Cleaning efficiency is 75–85%, depending on dust characteristics, cyclone diameter, and fan parameters.

SIOT units are most commonly used in the following industries:

ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy;
power engineering and boiler installations;
chemical industry;
mechanical engineering and oil refining;
building materials production;
food industry (especially for lime dust removal at sugar plants).

The maximum permissible gas-air flow temperature through the cyclone is up to 400 °C. Cyclone resistance is 630–1180 Pa, maximum pressure — 5000 Pa, and gas velocity in ducts is maintained within 15–18 m/s.

Important: SIOT cyclones must not be used in explosive or toxic environments unless specially designed for such conditions, and are not suitable for dust with a high content of sticky substances.

Design Features

The design of cyclone SIOT-1 is characterized by the absence of a cylindrical body part and the presence of a triangular inlet pipe. The conical body creates an intense swirling flow, increasing cleaning efficiency. Manufactured in both left-hand and right-hand versions. The basic model is made of black steel, but stainless steel or other materials can be used upon request.

Dust Collection Hopper

The lower part of the cyclone contains a dust collection hopper. It must be cleaned regularly to prevent overfilling, which would reduce performance and shorten the equipment’s service life. The hopper volume is selected based on operating cycles.

Installation of Cyclone SIOT-1

SIOT units can be installed on either the suction or pressure side of the fan. For abrasive dust, the fan should be placed only on the suction side, and the lower part of the cyclone should be additionally lined with corundum-cement. If necessary, purified air can pass through a swirler with a screw cap to increase performance. If the fan is installed before the cyclone, a conical screw cap “snail” design is used.
