UC cyclones
UC cyclones or universal cyclones are designed to clean technological atmospheric emissions of woodworking industry enterprises from non-sticky, non-fibrous solid inclusions, as well as mixtures consisting of wood dust, shavings, dry sawdust. UC cyclones are able to clean quite dusty air masses with a high efficiency of 91-99 percent.
Marking
UC-1100 cyclone
- «UC» - universal dust collector-cyclone;
- «1100» - size - caliber corresponding to the inner diameter, mm.
A feature of dust collection devices of this class is the presence of different modifications for each caliber - standard size. This greatly simplifies the solution of optimization tasks when selecting appropriate equipment to ensure technological processes.
Cyclones are produced with calibers: 2000, 1800, 1600, 1500, 1400, 1300, 1200, 1100, 1000, 900, 800, 710, 630, 560, 500.
Component elements of the UC cyclone:
- housing:
- cylindrical part;
- conical part;
- inlet pipe;
- umbrella or snail;
- exhaust pipe.
Purpose and scope application
The purpose of UC cyclones is to clean the air from dust pollution generated during the processing of wood itself, wood materials, as well as from the dried sawdust-chip mixture. This line is in no way intended for removing sticky or fibrous small solid fragments from the air environment.
Installation locations of UC cyclones:
- furniture factories;
- carpentry workshops;
- enterprises where wood-chip materials are produced;
- sawmills;
- sawmills, etc.
Design advantages and raw materials
UC class cyclones are manufactured in accordance with GOST 15150-69 in the climatic version of UHL in conditions of use according to the placement categories from the first to the fourth in aspiration complexes of technological productions with categories B, C, D and D for explosion, fire, as well as explosion and fire hazard in accordance with the collection of documents SNiP P-90-81. Consumable material of dust collection devices - carbon steels and stainless steels.
A typical UC cyclone has a cylindrical body with a lower part in the form of a cone, a nozzle at the inlet and a pipe at the outlet. The diameter of the inner part of the body is the caliber of the cyclone.
UC cyclones are of left and right-directional design. In the first version, the rotation of the contaminated flow inside the cyclone occurs counterclockwise, if you look from the exhaust pipe side, in the second - vice versa.
How does a UC class cyclone work?
Air containing a suspension of dust with sawdust and shavings enters the opening of the inlet pipe and continues its path in a tangential direction to the inner surface of the cylindrical part of the dust collector. The contaminants move in a spiral at the speed of the air flow inside the cyclone at a speed of three to seven meters per second. Moreover, the number of revolutions is from three to nine times. During rotation, the particles, which, due to the influence of centrifugal force, quickly end up on the walls of the housing, subsequently fall through the outlet of the cyclone cone into the accumulation hopper. Under the influence of excess pressure, the purified air rapidly rises upwards to the exhaust.
The efficiency/effectiveness of the dust collection unit is directly related to the ratio of the internal dimensions of the cylindrical section of the housing and the ratio of the dimensions of the cone and cylinder. When manufacturing such devices, optimal proportions are taken into account that contribute to maximum cleaning of the incoming contaminated flow and minimum suction of contaminants from the hopper. The installation of UC series cyclones takes place on both the discharge and suction sections of the air duct. In the first case, it is necessary to install a ventilation umbrella. In the second one, a snail must be installed.
For the proper functioning of the system, a harmonious combination of elements is created:
- umbrella;
- air duct connecting the device itself with the umbrella;
- system length, including all elements;
- air lift height;
- fan throughput and pressure.
It should be remembered that a properly balanced system is able to work several times longer, ensuring uninterrupted, well-adjusted and durable operation of the UC series cyclone.
When installing cyclone equipment and servicing it, due attention should be paid to the tightness of the system with supply/exhaust air ducts and the quality of the surfaces of the internal passage of the air medium.
When operating cyclones, safety measures must be strictly observed - collision with strongly heated by hot dust, gases, ash and surfaces of the units is fraught with severe burns. To prevent this, the surfaces of the cyclones must be insulated.
As the hopper is filled with captured pollution by three quarters of the volume, it must be released. The UC class cyclone is installed both inside the building and outside it, in the open air. When cleaning hot gaseous mixtures, the consumer is obliged to perform thermal insulation of both the unit itself and the supply gas ducts.
