RISI Cyclones

RISI class cyclones are designed to clean air in aspiration systems from all types of sticky, fibrous, polishing dust, as well as waste from paint and varnish coatings in the absence of condensed liquid vapor products on the surfaces inside the cyclones.

Marking

Example: cyclone «RISI-9», where:

  • «RISI» - development of the Rostov Engineering and Construction Institute;
  • «9» - cyclone diameter number.

Technical specifications

The performance of RISI class cyclone models varies from 300 to 20,000 m3/h, the diameter of the cylindrical part - from 200 to 1,600 millimeters. The purification is 87% ÷ 98%.

Design advantages

RISI class cyclones are made of carbon and stainless steel in left and right versions. In the first variant, the flow rotation in the unit occurs counterclockwise when observed from the location of the exhaust pipe, in the second - vice versa.

It is possible to supplement the RISI class cyclone with components:

  • snail - for a rational transition of the movement of the purified air flow from vertical to horizontal and reducing energy consumption;
  • cone - for the transition of the cyclone - transition pipe;
  • transition pipe - connection of the cone - tank;
  • tank - waste accumulator for short-term storage of separated dust.

Operating principle

The polluted air flow enters the cyclone, rotates, and centrifugal forces arise. Under their influence, foreign solid particles are directed to the walls of the unit. The helically circulating high-speed air flow helps foreign inclusions to enter the cone coagulator. Here, individual dust particles, adhering to each other, turn into dispersed coagulated dust, which is then directed through a cone that widens downwards into a storage hopper. After cleaning, the gas is discharged from the RISI class cyclone to the outside from the upper compartment.

Advantages

The main advantage of RISI class cyclones over cyclones of other classes is the presence of an additional component - a cone-coagulator, due to which a level of purification from fibrous substances of 87% -98% is achieved.

Field of application

RISI class cyclones are in demand for capturing meal dust, dust resulting from the processing of cotton seeds at oil and fat plants, as well as at other enterprises, for example, for cleaning the air from dust formed during wood processing.

Features of operation

RISI class cyclones are made in the climatic version of UHL when used in placement categories 1 ÷ 4 according to the requirements of GOST 15150-69. RISI class cyclones can be used in aspiration systems of productions belonging to categories B, C, D and D according to SNiP 2.09.02-85 on explosion and fire hazard, explosion and fire hazard. The seismicity of the region where the cyclone is used is not regulated.

When installing and servicing a cyclone installation, close attention should be paid to the tightness of the supply/exhaust air duct system and the quality of internal surfaces that are in direct contact with the purified air. During the operation of RISI class cyclones, it is necessary to promptly free the bunker from accumulated dust. The maximum filling of the bunker is 70-80%. Safety measures must be strictly observed to prevent burn injuries in case of contact with hot surfaces of the cyclone or hot gases, dust. To avoid this type of injury, the surface of the unit must be carefully insulated. The temperature of the external insulating surface must not exceed + 45 °C. It is preferable to install these cyclones in front of the fan, rather than after it, as this improves the fan's operating conditions.
